contest basics
there are five types of contests and four ranks.the types are tough,beauty,cool,cute and smart,while the ranks,which remain as it is in all five types,are,normal,super,hyper and master ranks in ascending order.to find out which kind of contest your pokemon is best eligible for,view its nature and/or taste(sinnoh) as well as its type of attacks.for example,marshtomp is the water pokemon,and most water type moves are beauty aspects.however,if it likes sour poffin/or pokeblock which is best for the toughness aspect,what do you do?not to worry,marshtomp can also learn tough moves,hehe!but this luck may not remain for all pokemon!you need to keep capturing or nature breeding to get the species of pokemon to match its aspect according to its type!

poffins and pokeblock!
poffins and pokeblock for sinnoh contests and hoenn contests respectively are made to improve your pokemon's condition.condition also means the maybe toughness or coolness of your pokemon.you make them by using a single berry per player,and the more people you have,the better it turns out!a few berries may have the same taste of different levels,so combining all of these together may just turn out to be a super pokeblock/poffin!the more people you have,the more pokeblock/poffin each one gets!try all kinds of berries together and see how they turn out!new flavours,anyone?the higher the rarity of the berry,the higher the level of the pokeblock/poffin!just visit serebii's berry page in my links.

the good thing about the berry blender in hoenn is that there are others(though lousy) to blend with you!after putting in your berries,the blender starts blending.when the whirring arrow touches the one with your name on it,pressing the A button will earn you the double circle.pressing it slightly before or after your name earns you the single circle.pressing at someone else's name or way away from your name earns you the X,no points!the lesser X you get,the better,because thats going to be hard!the blender is going to start like whirring madly!but you will soon be able to get the hang of it.the pokeblock get stored in your pokeblock case.you want your pokeblock to have a high level and a low feel rating.so make less mistakes and use better berries!

poffins making in sinnoh!
here is you cook berries to make pokemon muffins,or poffins!each person adds one berry to the poffin base.after that,you will see curved arrows telling you which direction you're supposed to stir it.timing is important!the shorter the time the better!poffins can also overflow when stirred too fast and burn when stirred too slowly.there are three(rarely noticed)stages.first is batter stage where it will just be a batter.stir in small but rapid circles.then comes the jelly stage,where whitish jelly is seen.you may stir in slightly bigger circles.lastly comes the dotts stage,where colored dots can be seen on the batter.whirl it as fast as you can!it wont overflow but can burn so whirl it!!!soon the poffin is ready.you want a high level poffin with a low feel thats stored in your poffin case!

section one-basic breeding
basically to breed two pokemon,one must be a male and the other a female.ditto can also be used as a substitute for one partner.the contents of the egg would be the female partner.you also cannot breed relatives like father and daughter or mother and son,and especially not siblings.if you do that you will get bad eggs.bad eggs are eggs that take ages to hatch and freeze the game.legendaries with genders also cannot be bred unless you have hack codes.apon leaving your pokemon at the daycare,they will create an egg if they are compatible.the time taken depends on how much they like each other.it is also rare but possible to get two eggs at one time.these two eggs will hatch at the same time and turn out as twins,having identical stats usually.
section two-breeding for moves
breeding for moves is a frequently done task to create the ultimate pokemon.there are three terms for move breeding:inherited moves,tm/hm moves and egg moves.
inherited moves
inherited moves are also moves that this hatchling would learn later in life.for example,a treecko is born with leafblade, a move it should learn at level.25,which it inherited from its parents.
both parents must know the move you want.if this is difficult for you,then just use ditto.when both pokemon know the move,the baby is born with that move too.this is an important step in creating a pokemon that starts its life with a high-powered move that it would otherwise learn in later in life.inherited moves may also include moves the pokemon is capable of learning,but that move is not in it's moves list or in tm/hm.it is like torchic and flame wheel.torchic may be born with flame wheel if bred with quilava.usually,the father passes the move to the daughter and the mother to the son.
TM/HM moves
it is also known as passed moves.a little like inherited moves,this is used to "recycle" TMs. for example,a male treecko knows pound,leer and bullet seed(TM) while the female knows pound and leer.if the baby is a female,it will inherit the tm move bullet seed.do not ever use a ditto here!try it,they would both know the same moves and you knowthe rest!
egg moves
egg moves are hidden abilities inside pokemon that do not come into being by levelling up and cannot be taught via TMs.if you want to bring out the move of the hatchling,you must breed the female parent with a compatible male that learned the move through levelling up only.for example,treecko's egg move is dragonbreath and it cannot learn that normally.so,if you breed a female treecko with a male bagon that knows dragonbreath,the baby treecko will know dragonbreath!some pokemon have egg moves while others dont.those which do have more than three usually.rarer moves may take more rounds of breeding,so be patient!
nature breeding
these may be very important to contest co-ordinators who need the right natured pokemon to like the taste of the poffin,to succeed in thier desired contest aspect.a very nice example is feebas.it needs to have a calm or honest nature to like blue/dry pokeblock or poffin to become milotic.if it doesnt?then its not good!a method,though not 100% has been discovered and needs patience.
